In designing the Backstryke, Odyssey engineers moved the shaft backward, placing the axis of the shaft point as close as possible to the putter head’s center of gravity. This in-line axis helps promote a fluid, stable stroke path, for better distance control, consistency, and accuracy. It allows you to clearly see if the face of the putter is square to the target line, without the shaft impeding your line of sight. Hands-forward position, without de-lofting, promotes an upward stroke into the ball. The shaft position also helps create a stable, straight line with your leading arm, so your wrists are less likely to break down during the stroke. This multi-layer insert has been fine-tuned to enhance sound, responsiveness, resiliency and consistency. The inner core is 19.6% firmer to enhance the feel and 92% stiffer for better resiliency. The face surface has been roughened to enhance the sound at impact with softer golf balls; this rough texture also helps increase friction between the ball and the insert to promote forward roll.

Golfers' review:
After putting more with the BackStryke marxman, I'll say that it rolls the ball better than my Rife or any AGSI insert putter that I have used.
I have now had a chance to really putt extensively on fast greens. Mostly pluses with few drawbacks. Stupid easy to line up the putt. The Roll is real tight. The ball comes off of the face faster than most putters. Short putts require an adjustment as you have to get use to the ball getting to the hole more quickly. The adjustment didn't take long as the putts are moving with increased accuracy. For me, extreme accuracy; better than my Rife IMO and the IMO is no slouch. Very good distance control with this putter.
I tried the 2-ball version the other day and sank putt after putt. Was pretty amazed.
I love this putter. You really have to set the thing in the correct position, and when you do, it just goes where it’s pointing. Very good putter.
I started golfing a few years using a crappy putter that came with a set of cheap irons. After trying out every putter on the rack, the Odyssey Backstryke 2-Ball Putter proved to be the best.
I tried out all three models (Blade, Marxman, and 2-Ball) and I was really amazed at how easy it was to roll the ball so quickly and accurately from 10 feet and out. I also liked how easy it was to line up my putts and square the face towards the target, which combined with the forward press made for some consistent putting.
