Tiger Woods insists he is close to ending his 15-month winless streak after the worst slump of his career.
The 14-time major champion has not won since the Australian Masters in November 2009 and has slipped to number three in the world.
But on the eve of the Dubai Desert Classic, Woods is hopeful that he can win on a course that has been so good to him in the past.
The American has won here twice in five starts - in 2006 and 2008 - and is 82 under par for the 20 rounds he has played over the Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club.
Appearing relaxed and upbeat, Woods said he took away plenty of positives from his season-opener in San Diego two weeks ago, despite finishing down in 44th place.
"I still feel I can win golf tournaments," he said. "I'm not that old. I figure I've got some years ahead of me.
"I don't always win. I've certainly lost a lot more tournaments than I've won. But it's the goal every week you tee up and that doesn't change."
Woods' result at Torrey Pines was his worst to start the season since he turned professional and he is resigned to making slow progress after overhauling his swing.

He added: "Obviously I still have to pay attention to the short game and my techniques there, all the different shots, as well as the putting stroke.
"You try and find practice time when you can but we have had to do a lot more work on the golf swing. And I've made a complete overhaul on my swing so that takes quite a lot of time."
Solace
Woods also takes some solace from the fact he has been through similar slumps before, especially from 1997-99 when he won only one tournament.
"Certainly it was frustrating that I didn't perform the way I know I could," he said of Torrey Pines. "But I've been here before. It takes time. I went through, as I said, a two-year period where I didn't do anything and a year-and-a-half period where I didn't do anything. You don't make changes and just start winning a bunch of golf tournaments."
Woods has been drawn for the first two rounds in Dubai with the two players who have moved ahead of him in the world rankings - Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer - a scenario he says suits him fine. "I think it's fun," he said.

"The last time I played in a pairing like this was the US Open in 2008 (with Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott), the top three guys and we had a lot of fun. I think tomorrow will be the same."
